Write a Monthly Report


Project managers often oversee multiple projects within a company or organization. A monthly report is a document that project managers should turn in to provide status updates on projects within one week after the end of a month. A monthly report normally requires one or two pages for the document length, unless you submit additional documents, such as graphs or charts to depict the progress of your team's efforts.


Instructions


1. Write "Monthly Report" on the top of the page and the name of the project. Include the month and date of the report.


2. Describe the working hours of project members, including the names of project members and the number of hours worked over the last month for each employee. Provide a cumulative number of hours from the beginning of the project.


3. Break down the hours spent, such as project planning for 10 hours, management for 30 hours or specifications 10 hours. Make sure each area is listed with the number of hours and that they match the number of hours worked for the month.


4. Outline what your group did over the course of the last month. Include any applicable updates on the project, such as a project member quit on x date or you hired a new project manager.


5. Discuss any issues related to management. This section should be in your own words. You may have a passive client or project employees that missed several days of work. Discuss any management problems experienced and outline a plan to solve the problem.


6. Outline the main events of the project, such as what you have accomplished and what strategies the team initiated to continue the project. Discuss the potential risks of the project or complications that your team encountered, such as bugs in a code or another problem.


7. Write the deadline for the project at the bottom of the monthly report.


8. Complete the above steps for each project that you organize for your team.


9. Review the monthly report for any errors or any issues that you did not fully address. Make any revisions as necessary and submit the monthly report to your employer.
