If you are remodeling your Craftsman style bathroom and want to stay true to the original design, there are several flooring options that you can choose. All of these flooring ideas will be consistent with the timeless style of these homes, while adding a beautiful, updated look. Does this Spark an idea?

Wood

Craftsman style homes are known for having an abundance of natural materials. This style of home generally used wood flooring throughout the home, with the exception of the bathroom. Moisture issues in the bathroom caused builders of these homes to choose other options, such as natural stone. Nowadays, because of all of the advances in flooring production you can use wood style flooring. A wide plank, wood laminate floor is an that mimics the look of the natural, rustic feel of these homes, but can withstand moisture. Generally, Craftsman style wood floors were made of oak or fir, and usually finished in a dark stain. There are many manufacturers of wood flooring products that sell products specifically made to mimic the Craftsman style.

Natural Stone

Craftsman style homes used natural products in the building of these homes. So it is not uncommon to find natural stones such as slate used in the bathroom. Natural stone tiles are an excellent choice for the bathroom because they withstand water very well. The downside is that stone can be very expensive. There are synthetic and composite tiles that look and feel like natural stone without the cost.

Ceramic Tile

Tile manufacturers produce distinct colors and designs associated with this era's style. The finishes on these products tend to be extremely glossy and can be accented with intricate edging, borders, and designs. It was not uncommon to find glossy, white tiles on the floor and walls and white fixtures throughout a Craftsman home. This produced the clean lines and simple designs that the style is known for. Decorative tiles were also used throughout Craftsman style homes, and could be incorporated into the bathroom flooring to add a little artistic flair to this simply styled home.
