Styles
Amish furniture has four basic styles: Mission, Shaker, Queen Anne and traditional. All furniture is known for its quality, which is usually 100-percent oak or cherry wood with no particle board or laminate.
Features
One common feature of the Mission style is that most pieces are made of quarter-sawn oak. A distinctive feature of the Shaker style is plain wood knobs. The Queen Anne style features furniture pieces with feet, scalloping and usually a brass handle. Fluted or rope twist legs are a feature of the Traditional style, along with cathedral arches.
Function
Amish furniture can be customized for very specific building needs and made into beds, hutches, headboards, cradles, coffee tables, gliders, entertainment centers and more.

The furniture is routinely made in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. It is of note amongst experts that these are the roots of the original builders and that Amish furniture made elsewhere should be questioned as to authenticity.
