Goodwill locations in Colorado's major cities accept auto donations.
Since Goodwill Industries is a 501(c)3 corporation, auto donations are tax deductible. Colorado residents can donate their cars to programs in Denver or Colorado Springs to support the adult rehabilitation and service programs run by Goodwill. Auto donation takes just a few minutes to do the paperwork, and offers a convenient way to unload an old car.
Locations
Colorado drivers in Denver and Colorado Springs can donate their cars locally. Since these are the main Goodwill locations in the state, residents in other areas of Colorado can donate to these programs or choose other vehicle donation options closer to home.
Types of Vehicles Accepted
Goodwill Industries of Colorado accepts cars, light trucks, minivans and RVs for donation. Your car does not need to be running; the Goodwill accepts "all vehicles whether they run or not." Other large items you can donate include motorcycles and boats.
Usage
Goodwill Industries funds its rehabilitation programs with money from auto donations. These programs include home care and adult day care, computer training, programs for those in financial trouble and employment training or residential services for those with disabilities.
You can't choose a specific program to support when you donate your car, but funds raised from its sale will go to support programs like these in Colorado communities.
Process
You can't bring the car to a Goodwill store for donation. Instead, call the Goodwill where you want to donate, or complete an online donation form. Colorado residents need the car's title and keys, and will transfer the title over to Goodwill.
To start the process, complete the online donation form or provide basic information about your car over the phone, then transfer the title with the instructions you are given and schedule a tow or pickup. When the car gets sold, Goodwill will send you a receipt you can use to get tax credit for this charitable donation.
