Lourdes, France is a major pilgrimage destination for the Christian faithful.
In 1858, a 14-year-old peasant named Bernadette Soubirous envisioned 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary in a Grotto near the Gave de Pau River in Lourdes, France. Since that time, Lourdes has become a major pilgrimage destination for Christians and Catholics. The Angelic Hotel, a three-star lodging, is one of more than 200 hotels that are available to house the more than 5 million visitors who flock here annually. The Angelic Hotel is in the heart of the Peyramale District, walking distance from sanctuary.
