Design a bed and breakfast floor plan so that each room takes on a different setting but still takes inspiration from an overall theme. Instructions
1. Decide on a theme for the bed and breakfast. Choose a theme associated with a serene setting such as rolling hills bed and breakfast.
2. Begin the floor plan with a blank document. Draw the scale extending up the left side and over the top margin of the page. Set the scale to 1/4 inch.
3. Look for projecting windowsills. Allow extra space for these and mark off locations for light switches, thermostats, vents and electrical receptacles.
4. Determine whether beds go in front of windows or face any doors. Many people consider this the most essential part of floor layouts
5. Draw as many empty room frames on the page as necessary for each room. Plan to design each room differently. Choose designs based on bed sizes and the number of objects such as televisions and sofas.
6. Allow ample empty space in front of dressers so that the drawers can extend fully without hitting nearby objects. Plan to put most furniture two to three inches from the wall.
7. Alternate the position of beds. Occasional tables and sofas make the most dramatic changes in room decor. Add furniture between twin beds for some rooms, in others, add cluster sofas, chairs and tables off to one side with the bed at an opposite side. This creates the effect of two rooms in one.
