Reset A Liftmaster Garage Door

Performing a reset on a garage door opener is a wise thing to do if you have recently purchased a home with an opener. By reprogramming the keyless entry and remotes, you can make sure that no unauthorized people have access to your garage. Resetting a LiftMaster garage door is easy and can be performed in a few simple steps. Reseting Your LiftMaster Remotes


1. Reset the remotes for the garage door by pressing and holding the "Learn" button until the LED goes out, about six seconds. The "Learn" button is located on the main motor unit.


2. Re-sync the remotes by pressing the "Learn" button, then press and hold the button on the remote you wish to program within 30 seconds. Release the button on the remote when you see the LED blink on the motor unit.


3. Test to see if your remotes work by simply pressing the button on the remote. The door should respond by moving up or down.


Resetting Your LiftMaster Keyless Entry


4. Reset the keyless entry by entering the current PIN on the keypad, then press and hold the "#" button. When the LED has blinked twice, release the "#" button. Enter the new PIN you have selected on the keypad, followed by the "Enter" button. The LED will blink once if the new PIN has been learned.


5. If you don't know the old PIN, press the "Learn" button of the motor unit. Enter the new PIN you have selected on the keypad, followed by the "Enter" button. Release the "Enter" button once the LEDs on the main motor unit blink.


6. Try the new PIN by entering the number and then press "Enter." If the PIN has been reset, the door will respond by moving up or down.
