Decorate A Living Room In Lodge Decor

Create an instant sense of warmth for your family and friends when they step into your living room decorated with lodge decor. Even if you don't live in a mountain retreat, you can bring that look inside your home. Lodge decor brings the outside in and creates an oasis of nature-inspired tranquility that can be both serene and light-hearted. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Choose a lodge decor theme for your living room, such as hiking, fishing, wildlife, mountaineering or camping.

2. Select a color scheme. Paint or wallpaper your walls based on that color scheme. Think about all the colors of the wilderness. Incorporate those into your color scheme. If you decide on wallpaper, choose one that incorporates your theme. The wallpaper or paint can include dark greens, browns, rich creams, ivory, sky blue and sage. Choose bold colors to make a statement or softer colors for a more calming effect.

3. Buy furniture that features natural, unpainted woods. Mission or Arts and Craft style furniture is a great choice to incorporate into your lodge decor. Make sure that your pieces are comfortable, but rustic.

4. Highlight your fireplace if you have one to make it the central point of your living room lodge.

5. Hang artwork that includes pictures of nature and family photographs with unfinished wood frames. Wood shelves holding old books and baskets also fit well into the lodge decor style.

6. Add a minimal amount of accessories to your living room including fresh wildflowers in simple vases, rustic wooden figurines, decorative pillows that offer texture and taxidermy, if you like.
