Make Your Own Headboard For Less Than $40

The finished product (behind the pillows)

You can make your own headboard for a fraction of what it would cost to buy at a store. It just takes a few materials and an hour or two of work. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the width and height of your bed. Decide how high above your bed you want the frame to go. Our measurements ended up being 76in wide by 48in high.

2. Go to a hardware or home improvement store and buy a piece of plywood big enough to fit your measurements.

3. Go to a fabric store (or even WalMart) and buy quilt batting and fabric. Give yourself 2 or 3 extra inches of batting and fabric on each side. In other words, add 4 or 6 inches to both the height and width of your batting and fabric.

4. Cut the plywood to the size you had measured. Sand the cut edges.

5. Center the plywood on your batting and fabric. Fold the edges of the batting and fabric over the sides of the plywood and staple into place.

6. Place the headboard behind your bed. You won't mount this headboard to your bed frame, just lean it up against the wall behind the bed.
