rock garden
A rock garden is a wonderful start for your old beds. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. First you will need to find a source for getting some rocks.
Stone plus is where I found many different rocks.
Below is a link to there web site.
2. I visited there local store and purchased several different kinds of rocks.
First I found the Brown river rock. They come in different sizes depending on what you want. they come in a 1 in and 1 1/2 inch on up.
The price was reasonable, a few dollars for a 5 gallon bucket. which you will need to bring with you if you have one available or
there will be an extra fee if you take there buckets.
3. I also bought some of the Jade pebbles and the Mexican pebbles.
The jade has a beautiful bluish green color and the Mexican pebbles are flat and round grey color.
The rocks are heavy so take a friend to lend a hand.
4. You will also need ground cover and some edging.
5. when you are ready to begin on the old beds start by digging any plants that may still be in there out.
6. when the bed is cleared dig the edges out for the edging to go in.
lay the ground cover first then place the edging in putting the edges of the
ground cover under the edging to help hold in
place and to keep out any weeds that might grow around the edging.
do not push the edging to deep in the ground. this will hold the rocks in the flower bed.
7. push the dirt back around the outside of the edging.
8. cut holes in the ground cover where you want to place the flowers.
once you have all the flowers or plants back in the bed you can add the rocks.
when you add the rocks becareful not to break your plants.
9. to help avoid that you could add the rocks first then move the rocks from where you need to place a plant.
which is a little ruff on the hands.
10. Don't forget to water your plants once you have them in the ground.
weeks to come you will find that you have to pull less weeds.
