Stains on your furniture are a certainty. The occasional spill while eating meals on the sofa, having children in the home or hosting parties are just a few things that can cause them. Covering
A slipcover hides stains and transforms the look of furniture.
A good option for a stained couch, loveseat or wingback chair is a slipcover. These covers not only hide the stain but also give the entire piece of furniture --- and as a result the entire room --- a whole new look. Slipcovers are available in a number of colors and patterns, and an added benefit is that if they ever get a stain, you can simply remove them, wash them and put them back into place.
Textile
A less expensive option than covering the entire piece of furniture is hiding only the stain. One way to do this is with a throw or a small blanket. Like slipcovers, they are available in a wide range of designs and colors, so you can find one to match any room's d cor. Strategically place the throw over the stain to hide it from view. Throws and blankets also increase the coziness of a room.
Pillow
You can use cushions to cover furniture stains in one of two ways. The first is putting a decorative accent pillow over the stain. You can buy it or make it yourself. Find a fabric you like, and cut two squares to equal size -- whatever size you want the cushion to be. Hold the squares together and sew three sides closed, half an inch in from the edges of the fabric. Stuff the cushion, and sew the fourth side closed.
Flip
The second way, and perhaps the easiest of all, is to use the furniture's own cushion to cover up the stain by simply turning it over. However, turning it over or around to the other side is a technique you can utilize only once, but it's very effective and free. Another benefit is that rotating the cushion, as with rotating a bed mattress, extends the life of the furniture.
