These cabinets are stand alone pieces which are not used a television stands. The inside cabinets are usually only approximately six inches deep. Therefore, oversized books, televisions and board games need to find a storage home elsewhere.


Mission Style Cabinets are found in department stores such as Macy's and JC Penny's, office supply or technology stores such as Office Max and Best Buy and specialty online furniture outlets. Prices vary depending on the size, quality of the wood and amount of storage capability, however customers can reasonable expect to pay around $150 to $500.


Revolving Style Cabinets


Perfect for corners and tight spaces, revolving style cabinets take up less space than most media cabinets. These cabinets feature four-sided door-less storage capability of DVD movies, compact discs, books or video games. Often, these cabinets are made with wood, but some are particle board or metal depending on the vendor and quality.


These revolving cabinets are not recommend for use as television stands due to their height which usually ranges from 40 inches to 60 inches, small surface area at the top, which would create balance issues, and it would also defeat the purpose of the revolving feature of the cabinets.


Revolving style cabinets are most commonly found in office supply stores such as Staples and Office Max, while metal options are usually found at technology stores such as Best Buy. Online furniture outlets are another prime source of purchasing these types of cabinets. Customers can expect to pay between $50 and $300 for revolving cabinets, depending on the size, storage capacity and whether its made of wood, metal or particleboard.


Armoire Style Cabinets


Perfect for a tasteful interior designed room, Armoire style cabinets are large enough to hold a small television and a number of media items such as video games, DVD movies, compact discs and books. One of the prime features of this style of wooden cabinet is a large open area for the television that is enclosed with two solid wooden doors, which hides the television when not in use.


Underneath the television shelf, are either pull out shelves or doored cabinets where media items can be stored or other pieces of equipment can reside such as DVD players or video game consoles.


These cabinets usually are made out of solid oak or pine and come in a variety of stains and veneers. Usually customers can expect to pay close to $750 and up for these furniture pieces due to the high quality of wood used and size. Often, these cabinets are found in major department stores such as Sears, JC Penny's and Macy's and other furniture outlets and are not common found in office supply stores or technology stores. Online furniture shops are also a good source to price shop and compare models.
