King Arthur Games

You can play as King Arthur or one of his knights in one of many games.

The popular legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table has been presented and celebrated countless times in various forms of media, from poetry to epic romances, from film to television. Arthurian legend has also been the focus of several game titles, including PC and console video games, board games, and even a pen-and-paper role-playing game.

"King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame"

In the 2009 real-time strategy title "King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame" for the PC, you play as King Arthur himself in a campaign to build an empire encompassing all of Brittania. With your knights at your side acting as heroes with special abilities, you must handle not only the logistical side of the campaign but also the political and religious. You can choose to be either a good, lawful king or a tyrant, but be aware of the effects your decisions will have on the morale of your troops.

"King Arthur" Movie Tie-in

Released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2, "King Arthur" acted as a hack-and-slash video game tie-in for Antoine Fuqua's film of the same name released earlier the same year. The game tells the same story as the film and features cutscenes and voice work taken directly from the movie. You can choose to play as one of five characters from the Arthur legend, including Arthur himself, each of whom has unique talents and strengths.

"Dark Age of Camelot"

"Dark Age of Camelot" is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, that takes place after the death of King Arthur. The three realms of his land, Albion, Hibernia and Midgard, have since gone to war with one another. You can choose to play as one of 44 classes and 18 races and to align yourself with one -- or more -- of these warring factions.

"Kingdoms of Camelot" for Facebook

In the "Kingdoms of Camelot" Facebook game application, you are dubbed either a lLord or Lady by King Arthur. As you build your empire, you can either compete or cooperate with friends and strangers. You can hire your Facebook friends as knights, and if they play the game as well, your kingdom becomes more powerful.

"Shadows over Camelot" Board Game

The "Shadows over Camelot" board game, released in 2005, puts three to seven players in the shoes of the Knights of the Round Table, who must work together to accomplish quests such as finding Excalibur and the Holy Grail. While the board game is cooperative and not competitive, players must be vigilant of the possibility that one of the players among them is a traitor.

"King Arthur Pendragon" Role-playing Game

"King Arthur Pendragon" is a pen-and-paper role-playing game first published in 1985. One player manages the quest and narrates the story -- the GM, or game master -- while the others take the roles of knights who must complete quests in the hope of becoming a member of Arthur's Round Table.
