Craftsman-style wood trim looks great in the home. Square edges without embellishment are a signature part of the craftsman style, so it's perfect for beginning do-it-yourselfer. The wood trim is typically layered: the main portion of the trim is very wide, and a narrow section is added to the bottom or top. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions
1. Measure the area where you want to apply the wood trim.
2. Cut the first layer of wood. Make sure it's wider than the section of trim that will go on top. The first layer should be similar to the wide base boards that adorn the bottom of some walls.
3. Nail your first section into place.
4. Apply the second layer of trim over the top. The second layer should be much smaller in width and wrap around the edge of the wider trim. It's similar to the quarter round trim that finishes off wide base boards at the bottom of some walls.
5. Mitre your corners to they meet in 45-degree angles. Measure and cut carefully so the angles fit snugly together.
6. Counter sink your nails and fill the holes with wood putty.
7. Use your finger or a cotton swab to apply a small amount of stain to the wood putty.
