Create A Fabric Canopy For A Baby Crib

Add a gorgeous, unique style to your baby's crib with a crib canopy.

A bed canopy adds a bit of elegance and serenity to any bedroom and is available in many designs and fabrics. There are canopies available for all bed sizes including baby cribs. Crib canopies have been used for years to decorate nurseries and for protection from insects or other pests that might make their way into a baby's crib. You can design crib canopies to match the fabrics and other d cor in your nursery or you can make a plain white netting canopy that will match any room design. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure the length from the ceiling to the floor over the crib. Buy enough white canopy netting that equals two times the length from the ceiling to the floor. Also, purchase a round wreath or some other round frame.

2. Cut the white netting in half with a pair of sharp scissors.

3. Cover the wreath. Take one end of white netting and wrap it over half of the wreath. Use the hot glue gun to secure the fabric to the inside of the round wreath frame. Wrap the second piece of netting over the other half of the wreath and secure it with hot glue.

4. Hot glue your flowers or other accessories around the outside of the wreath. You can be as creative as you desire with the accessories. You may glue cards with images of animated cartoon characters, lace, feathers and toys, for example.

5. Hot glue pieces of ribbon of equal lengths and equal distance around the inside of the wreath. The length of the ribbons depends on how low or high you want the canopy to hang over the crib.

6. Gather the ribbons and tie them together at the top. Make a knot to secure them together.

7. Insert the ceiling hook into the ceiling over the crib. Put the knotted ribbons on the hook so the canopy hangs over the crib.
