Urban Night Clubs In San Francisco

Known as The City by the Bay, San Francisco boasts wall-to-wall landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, North America's first Chinatown and its signature cable cars. Full of beautiful beaches, museums and a thriving nightlife that boasts a variety of bars and clubs that cater to every taste, it is easy to see why San Francisco is a popular vacation destination city.

Cat Club

Nestled in San Francisco's SoMa (South of Market) neighborhood, Cat Club is one of the city's longest running nightclubs. Cat Club is spacious, yet intimate and can accommodate 350 to 400 people. The club also features two large rooms: one designed to evoke a lounge atmosphere and one room containing the main dance floor. The lounge contains a large, fully stocked bar, a small stage, an espresso bar, a large TV, two turntable desks and paintings by local artists. The other room features a spacious wooden dance floor, a large stage and an intimate bar. Hip-hop, funk, house, techno and rock music can all be heard on an excellent sound system from the elevated DJ booth on the dance floor. With theme nights, live music and the exposed brick décor adding to its underground mystique, it's easy to see why the Cat Club is one of San Francisco's hottest night spots.

El Rio

Located in San Francisco's Mission District, El Rio is a casual neighborhood bar and a dancer's utopia. With live music on weekends, strictly salsa on Sundays, international music dance parties on Fridays and rock, punk, hip-hop, dance hall and Arabic music randomly played every other day of the week, it is easy to see why El Rio is no stranger to a packed house. Although the music never stops and the bar is rarely empty, El Rio is anything but the average nightlife spot. During warmer months, El Rio hosts outdoor film festivals and cabaret performances, in addition to organizing benefits for local charities and community organizations. El Rio also offers patrons a chance to play shuffleboard, pingpong, shoot pool and participate in weekly barbecues and potlucks (usually around holidays). Boasting a popular outdoor patio decorated with Christmas lights and offering great views of the city, El Rio is a bar that undoubtedly offers something for everyone.
