However, plans for many woodworking craft projects can be found online for free. Plans often include a list of materials that can be used for shopping, as well as full instructions including photos or illustrations.

Canadian Home Workshop's website provides plans to hundreds of free woodworking crafts, complete with shopping lists and illustrated and detailed directions. For example, the plans for a Muskoka rocking chair made from composite wood include templates for each part, as well as an assembly guide giving multiple views of how the various parts fit together. Projects available include a game board made from plywood, an eco-friendly desk fashioned from white pine and a spruce coffee table that can be built for $25.
The Home Depot Fire Pit
The Home Depot provides a free project sheet for a fire pit that has a wood frame with a decorative ledge with mitered corners, with a steel fire bowl nestled atop a bed of sand topped with river rock.
