Diy Address Plaque

Address plaques make it easier to read your house number from the road.

A homemade address plaque is a useful and decorative accessory for your home exterior. It will make it easier for emergency personnel to find your home as well as friends who have never visited you before. Address plaques require little time or artistic skills and are inexpensive to make. They make excellent gifts for a housewarming, weddings or any special occasion.

Instructions

1. Paint a large wooden plaque in the shape of your choice with white acrylic paint. Allow it to dry.

2. Trace your house numbers onto the plaque using a stencil or draw the numbers freehand.

3. Use a waterproof adhesive such as epoxy or contact cement to glue the mosaic pieces onto your numbers. Keep in mind that the numbers will show up best if you use all the same color pieces on them.

4. Fill in the background on the wood plaque using other colors of mosaic pieces until you have completely covered the entire front of the wood.

5. Rub grout in between the mosaic pieces, according to the directions on the package. Remove the excess grout with a slightly damp sponge. You can skip the grout step if you desire, because the white background color will give the plaque a mosaic look, according to the Michaels website.

6. Paint the outer trim of your address plaque with an acrylic paint color that will coordinate with the exterior color of your home. Allow it to dry.

7. Seal the entire address plaque with an acrylic sealer or one that is made for use on outdoor furniture.

8. Attach it to your home by attaching a piece of wire or thin rope to each end of the plaque.
