Grants For Churches In Indiana

Indiana church grants fund building projects, ministerial salaries and mission programs.

A variety of Indiana church grant programs offer financial assistance for missions and congregations. Specific areas of assistance include ministerial salary support, new construction funding, mission and congregation start-up funding, equipment purchasing and support staff salaries. Grants available in Indiana come from denominational foundations and memorial funds. Moneys distributed range from one-time support grants to multi-year funding, ranging from $1,000 to $75,000.

Indiana District Lutheran Church Missouri Synod

The Indiana District Lutheran Church Missouri Synod offers church grants for building assistance, start-up, evangelism outreach and equipment. Missions or congregations preparing to construct their first building can apply for the building assistance grant. Funds from the grant are not available for programs or staff salaries. The grant has a maximum amount of $60,000, which is typically paid over a six-year period.

The start-up grant program offers qualifying churches up to $1,000 per month, with a maximum of $7,500, to cover costs associated with a new mission. Churches can use the grant to hire guest speakers, pay rent or purchase worship materials. Intended for costs related to new outreach programs, the evangelism outreach grant provides up to $10,000. The Council for Congregational Outreach awards the money on a one time-only basis, and the money must be reimbursed.

Equipment grants assist new missions with items such as computers, audiovisual equipment and office furniture. The grant pays up to $4,000. Congregations make initial purchases from their own funds, and the Indiana district reimburses the church for authorized costs.
