Donate your car to charity.
Cars quickly depreciate in value. Once you are ready for a new car, your old car won't be worth much. You can trade it in, but it is more profitable to sell your car privately. Of course, selling your car privately can take a long time. If you live in Miami, Florida, you can donate your car to charity. It can be done quickly and you will benefit financially by receiving a receipt for use on your taxes.
Instructions
1. Donate your car to the Miami Rescue Mission and help those less fortunate than yourself. Cars are auctioned off the first Saturday of each month with the proceeds going to the mission. You can donate your car any day of the month, however, by calling 1-800-817-HOPE or by filling out the online contact form, miamirescuemission.com. The Miami Rescue Mission will arrange for your car to be towed free of charge. You must provide a valid title for the car. Once your car has been sold, you will receive a receipt for use on your taxes.
2. Call 877-227-4344 if you would like your car donation to benefit Miami's Habitat for Humanity chapter. You can also use its online donation form at cardonationwizard.com. A Miami towing company will contact you to arrange a time that is convenient to pick-up the car. Make sure you sign the title over to Habitat for Humanity before the towing company arrives. Habitat for Humanity will then issue you a tax deductible receipt for your donation.
3. Use Miami Car Donation's online donation form, miamicardonation.org, or call 786-514-9593 if you want your car to benefit other local Miami charities. Once the towing company picks up your car, you will receive a tax deduction receipt as well as a letter stating which charity your donation will benefit. You will need to have a valid car title, but car keys and registration papers are optional.
