Information On Roofing Materials

Choosing the right roofing material can save you money.

There are a wide variety of roofing materials to use. Most roofs should be replaced every 10 years. Carefully choosing your house's roofing materials may reduce the cost of replacement. Does this Spark an idea?

Shingles

Composition shingles have a clean look at an affordable price. Higher-quality shingles include asphalt or fiberglass. They offer a more durable option and are available with recycled content.

Clay Tile

Homes with a southwestern, Italian or Spanish Mission design may have clay roofing tile. The tile lasts a long time, it doesn't rot or burn and it cannot be harmed by insects. Little maintenance is required and it comes in a variety of colors.

Slate

More upscale homes use slate, a natural stone product. Slate has a long lifespan and needs little maintenance.

Metal

Metal roofs are fire retardant, durable and almost maintenance-free. They are energy efficient because they reflect heat and block it from transferring into the attic. Metal roofs are made from 60-65 percent recyclable material.
