What Colors Compliment Cherry Wood In The Bedroom

Feature decor and flowers that complement cherry wood.

Cherry wood bedroom furnishings have a rich, elegant look. A wide range of paint colors go well with cherry wood furniture, but a few colors don't fit. Bright colors such as hot pink, orange, lime green or bright yellow clash with cherry wood. Does this Spark an idea?

Pastel Shades

All sorts of light pastel shades go well with cherry wood because these colors make the darker rich tones in cherry wood stand out by creating a subtle contrast. Baby blue, lavender, pale yellow, pastel green and pastel pink all work in a room with a cherry wood bed and dressers. Paint the walls one main pastel color and decorate with silk flowers that match the pastel shade. Look for light colored curtains, bedding and rugs to complete the look.

Neutral Colors

Neutral colors or earth tones such as cream, tan and other shades of brown go well with cherry wood furniture. The colors complement the wood without taking focus away from it. These colors serve as a good backdrop and create a more subtle look that blends with a wide range of decor. Feature neutral-colored accent walls or paint all the walls in the room in earth tone shades. Select muted, non-glossy paint or textured paint.

Medium-Tone Colors

Decorate with medium tones of blue, purple and green in your cherry wood bedroom. Choose one or two main medium shades and paint all the walls in the room. Use one main color on the walls and use the second color to paint a flower border or other accents. Include silky bedding and curtains that match these colors and find a few accents that go well with medium colors such as mirrors with silver borders, framed paintings or flowers in a medium-tone vase.

Dark Colors

Other dark colors such as plum, forest green, burgundy and chocolate can go well with cherry wood. However, don't paint all the walls with a dark color because this is too dramatic. Instead feature one dark plum or forest green accent wall in the room and place your bed and nightstands up against this wall. Leave all the other walls white and decorate with decor that matches with the cherry wood and dark green walls. Hang up pictures with cherry wood frames on the white walls and adorn your bed with lighter-colored bedding to create contrast.
